Martini, Togni, Garcia, Matute competing in Latina

We continue to reveal the names of acts competing in the competition at Latina in October: four more acts added to the Festival’s competition. The Festival starts on Thursday, October 13 at 9pm in via Rossetti, Latina.

The multicultural nature of this competition is confirmed by the newest additions to the cast from Chile, Spain and Italy. These performers have all prepared a spectacular performance for the International Circus Festival of Italy, which will be taking place in October at Latina. Shows not to be missed! Here is the events schedule, which includes 7 complete shows: Thursday October 13 at 9pm (show A); Friday October 14 at 9pm (show B); Saturday October 15 at 4.30pm (show B) and 9pm (show A); Sunday October 16 at 3.30pm (show A) and 7pm (show B); Monday October 17 at 8.30pm (Gala Show and Awards Ceremony).The shows called A and B are completely different performances, but both contain performers of the same high level of artistry and skills – they are simply a division of the numerous acts into two separate shows.

9. CRISTINA GARCIA

🇪🇸 SPAIN – CONTORTIONISM

Cristina Santos Garcia was born in Spain in 1995, and will be 27 at the end of this edition of the Festival. Cristina comes from a Circus family, and is proud to have her own mother as her trainer. She performed in the Circus with her family from the age of ten, but at 16 she decided to launch her solo career, subsequently appearing in variety and dinner shows across Europe. Her incredible flexibility, combined with her alluring femininity, form the basis of her contortionist act for the Festival: during her performance she also displays unusual skills with a crossbow.

10. ALESSANDRO E ERIKA TOGNI

🇮🇹 ITALY – HORSES

Erika and Alessandro Togni are respectively 21 and 23 years old, and represent the 5th artistic generation of a family that has made Italian Circus world-famous. The Togni family, custodians of the oldest Circus tradition, have educated their youngsters in Circus culture, transferring their love of Circus, and for their animals, from father to son. Their inspiration and first teacher was their grandfather, Elvio, who introduced them to horses. Their father, Erik, has combined the vitality of Alessandro with the elegance of Erika to produce an equestrian pas de deux which is the result of a long period of training and preparation.

11. CLOWN MATUTE

🇨🇱 CHILE – CLOWN

It wouldn’t be a Circus without a clown, and this year one of our competing clowns comes from far away to compete in the International Circus Festival of Italy: from the Republic of Chile, in the south-west of South America. Clown Matute trained at La Mancha Theater School in Chile (Lecoq method), and subsequently in India and Spain, beginning his artistic career in 2009; he has performed in many important circuses both in Chile and in Europe. Clown Matute will pop up during our shows to invite members of the audience to appear with him in a boxing ring and as an unusual orchestra.

12. FLYING MARTINI

🇮🇹 ITALY – FLYING TRAPEZE

In 2011 the Flying Martini troupe appeared in the International Circus Festival of Italy for the first time, winning the Latina d’Oro, which is the top, gold award. Since then the artistic path of these Italian acrobats has continued to further successes, including the Junior d’Or at Monte-Carlo and the inclusion of Michael Martini in the Guinness Book of Records as the youngest performer in the world to achieve a quadruple backwards somersault. It looks like Michael, son of Darix Martini and Sabrina Dell’Acqua, under the careful eye of his trainer René Rodogell Ramos, is destined to be the torchbearer of this popular, ancient and spectacular circus discipline.
