The 23rd edition of the International Circus Festival of Italy has come to an end.
The Festival took place over 5 days in Latina from October 13th to 17th, with 71 performers from 13 nations competing for the prizes in 9 shows with 24 different acts.
The opening number of the shows featured the Corps de Ballet of the Great Circus of Budapest directed by Peter Fekete, while the number that opened the second half featured the Modulo Centro Studi Danza directed by Francesca Cristofoli with choreography by Elisa Pasciuti and the assistance of the Isadora Centro Danza school directed by Simona Mariotti.
Live music throughout the Festival was provided by the Festival’s band, featuring Fabiano Giovannelli (Director and drums), Daniele Manciocchi (saxophone), Mario Caporilli (trumpet), Stefano Coccia (trombone), Massimo Ioffreda (piano e keyboards), Lorenzo Mancini e Simone Todini (electric bass), with arrangements by Guido Naus.
Presenters were Andrea Giachi and Alessia dell’Acqua.
As the President of the Giulio Montico Cultural Association, Fabio Montico said, this was a real comeback following Covid, hampered by current political situations which have regrettably prevented some nations from participating. However, it was a splendid edition which exceeded all expectations regarding the acts, the jury members and the VIPs who attended.
Two juries voted independently on the acts competing in the Festival.
The Critics Jury, composed of 20 VIPs, journalists, and fans voted for the most innovative and original number of the 24 numbers in the competition.
The Critics Prize went to Duo Resurrection
The Gold, Silver, and Bronze Award winners were decided by the International Technical Jury, composed of 17 eminent experts from the international circus community.
The Latina d’Oro went to Flying Martini and Jozsef Richter Jr Troupe
The Latina d’Argento went to Hermanos Acero, Celis Brothers and Tic Tac Trio
The Latina di Bronzo went to Alessandro & Erika Togni, Duo Resurrection, Clown Matute and Steven Ferrari
As the curtain went down on this 23rd edition of the International Circus Festival of Italy, thoughts were already on the next edition, in the hope of selecting numbers from all over the world, without territorial distinctions. “At the conclusion of this edition, I would like to thank all the staff of the Festival, and all the members of the Giulio Montico Cultural Association, whose dedication and professionalism allowed this event to go ahead so smoothly”, said Fabio Montico, “and we hope that next year there will be more stability in our local and regional government: events like this need the support and stability of local structures and interlocutors to help spread the word, and to positively exploit the energy and enthusiasm that we put into growing the International Circus Festival of Italy within the city of Latina”.
